A Letter for New Student ( Chapter 4)

Dear New Student:

     I wish to welcome you to Adelphi University. I guess you have given a lot of thought to the extracurricular activities. According to my experience, I think that taking a part-time job is a great activity for you.
  
    There some kinds of places for part-time job. Such as canteen, restaurant, supermarket, shopping mall, library, online and so on. Students choose many kinds of jobs as their part-time job. Like Waiters, teachers, shop assistants, teaching tutors, librarian, mailman, sellers and other kinds of jobs relevant to their professional program.

     Students get their part-time job mainly through our teachers’ recommending, or schoolmates or friends introduction. In addition, you can simply write posts on websites, or search some advertisements on websites or by newspapers.

     Taking on a part-time job while pursuing a degree is hard work. The obvious benefit is that since standards of consumption are getting higher and higher, doing a part-time job can help you reduce education expenses, earn some pocket money for purchasing clothing cosmetics, electronics, house rent, travel, and so on Furthermore, the benefits are normally greater than earning money. Students who work during their careers can acquire much experience and lecture during the working time. Experience is the best teacher. Some the people consider that doing part-time jobs is a good way to study from real society,such as cultural tradition,social intercourse and so on.It can assist and affect them to become more self-confident. Part time jobs are not only spur students to cultivate their abilities, but also can help them discover the more his shortcoming and ignorance. Then, they will cherish the learning opportunities for schools to be prepared for the challenge tomorrow. Doing a part-time job is not just is a need for students, but also is a request of society. Many employers require graduate students have work experience, not just a certificate paper. Through work, students can seek a job easily after graduation. It also helps students to master their interpersonal skills, manage the time schedule, and lay a solid foundation for their future careers. Doing some part-time job relevant to their professional programs，it can strengthen their understanding of their major.

The new words of chapter 1

   The research paper is part of the significant lessons for students of ELS English language center.Last month, we learned how to do the research paper.We were divided into four teams in our class.Every student had a specific task and played a major role in the team. There were so many processes to do. Before we determined a topic, we researched variables available data online.Then we analysed the resource.We found en economic issue as our topic in our group.We have individual concept and formula of the topic. At last, we finished and edited the report.Trough the activity, we learned how to cooperative with others and obtained much theoretical knowledge.In addition, we learned many approaches of doing research paper.

The new words of chapter 3

I am a 112 level students in ELS English language center.Next week,it will be our last week of the semester. We will take a final test in this week. After I finish my language program, how should I choose my orientation of my study? I am a positive person. Therefore, I did many surveys and I obtained lots of knowledge about my studies. Even though social work is a hard labor,I still select it as my study program in Adelphi University. Adelphi University is an institutional University.I won’t transfer my living area,I still continue to reside in West Hempstead Avenue because I like this security community. 

Do you thinke some kinds of extracurricular activities are better than tutoring in after-school program for students?

   As far as I am concerned,I think that some kinds of extracurricular activities are better than tutoring in after-school program for students. For example taking a part-time job is a great extracurricular activity for students. Taking on a part-time job while pursuing a degree is hard work. The new words of chapter 2

    Many year ago, I took a test of nursing certification. Before I took the test, I felt a great deal of depression because I hoped I could pass the test greatly. I hardly went to sleep at night. If I passed the test, I would  achieve my dream that I could get the higher income and welfare in our hospital. In order to achieve my dream, I had to seek some ways to relieve my stress. For example, I listened some classic or light music before I went to bed.  I talked my stress with my good friend who is a psychologist. These  are some appropriate ways  for me to relax. At last, I passed the test successfully.

The Advice for Birds Survival

             Today, with the development of the economy and society, all over the world faces the challenges of urbanization. Deforestation is a type of serious environmental problem in contemporary society.  Hence, I advise that birds had better seek their food in human cities instead of hunting in the forest  because they can easily find plenty of food in there, such as bread, meat, fruit and yogurt. Birds do  not have to feed on insects, just like mice enjoy the food directly in human settlement. Compared  to their native homes, there is enough food for them to survive for a long time.
